Stadium turnout thrills Brown
By Mark Curnutte
The Cincinnati Enquirer
GEORGETOWN, Ky. Bengals president Mike Brown could hardly contain his enthusiasm a day after 130,000 people toured Paul Brown Stadium during the open house.
There was an unexpected flash crowd there, and it just kept on coming, Brown said Thursday at Georgetown College. It was 9:30 in the evening. It shows you the breadth of interest, maybe the depth of interest in all this.
I can't think of another building that opened up and had a crowd like this show up to see it. The good news is people were pleased with what they saw.
The stadium will open Saturday night when the Bengals play the Chicago Bears in a preseason game.
Though glitches are still being worked out including getting the tickets into the hands of season-ticket holders Brown is pleased to have the whole process behind him.
There has been a race to catch up, he said. There are going to be those who aren't going to be taken care of the way they should be, but we'll look at them every way we know how.
I'm glad to have crossed the finish line, but I would hate to have to run the race again.
