Spotlight on: Strong safeties

By Mark Curnutte
The Cincinnati Enquirer

This is one in a series of looks at the Bengals by position.

        • Projected starter: Cory Hall. He started 12 games at free safety in 1999, earning all-rookie honors on two national magazine teams. He's beefed up to 217 pounds without losing speed and will play this season at his best position, strong safety, which features more contact and run-stopping responsibilities.

        • 2. Lawrence Wright. The University of Florida product has starred on Bengals special teams and appears this season to have caught on as a reserve defensive player. He tied for special teams lead with 19 tackles.

        • 3. JoJuan Armour. The former Miami University linebacker has been sidelined with a groin injury suffered earlier in training camp.
