        • Projected starter: Oliver Gibson. A fourth-round pick by Pittsburgh in 1995, Gibson signed with the Bengals as an unrestricted free agent in 1999 and started in all 16 games. The 6-foot-2, 315-pound Gibson posted a career-high 4¹/₂ sacks and led defensive linemen with six tackles for loss. He also had 12 quarterback pressures.

        • Chad Pegues. An undrafted free agent in 1999, Pegues spent nine of last season's 17 weeks on the practice squad. Pegues is 6-0 and 304 pounds.
