Spotlight on: Left corners
By Mark Curnutte
The Cincinanti Enquirer
This is one in a regular series of looks at the 2000 Bengals by position.
Projected starter: Tom Carter. Picked up on waivers from Chicago in December, Carter walked on the field and was the Bengals' best secondary player. At 6-feet, 190 pounds, he is known for his ability to play the ball in the air and has 25 interceptions in seven years. He will be counted on to strengthen one of the NFL's least effective secondaries.
2. Rodney Heath. The former Western Hills High and University of Minnesota star started nine of 16 games with the Bengals in 1999 and intercepted three passes, returning one for a touchdown.
3. Robert Bean. The fifth-round 1999 pick from Mississippi State made a name for himself in college as a kick blocker, and he blocked an extra point and intercepted one pass in the Bengals' intrasquad scrimmage, reinforcing his scouting report as a big-play maker.
