Spotlight on right guards

By Mark Curnutte
The Cincinnati Enquirer

This is one in a series of regular looks at the 2000 Bengals by position.

        1. Projected starter: Matt O'Dwyer. Signed as an unrestricted free agent from the New York Jets before the 1999 season, the former Northwestern star established himself as both a run and pass blocker with the Bengals. A 6-foot-5, 308-pound five-year veteran, O'Dwyer will miss the first game of the season. He was suspended by the NFL for his part in an altercation at a New York-area nightclub in July 1999.

        2. Mike Goff. The former Iowa standout is a valuable backup at guard and center, where he has been working during training camp. The 6-5, 316-pound Goff has blocked on special teams for two seasons.
