Scott covers bad check

Receiver Darnay Scott, lost for the season with a broken leg, has repaid the $5,157.92 he owed to a Florence motorcycle shop.

Scott was arrested on July 20 home on a charge of theft by deception.

While Scott recovers from surgery at Deaconess Hospital, his lawyer, Phil Taliaferro appeared for him in Boone District Court on Friday. The owners of J&J Custom Cycles said Scott has paid, and the player issued a written apology to the store, the court and his teammates.

“I would like to apologize to the court, to the county attorney ... and to my teammates at this time for the inconvenience and the embarrassment to all concerned,” Scott wrote.

Scott also had a message for his teammates: “I'm still hurting a little bit, but I'll definitely be watching the game (Friday night). Tell them all I'll be watching them, especially the wide receivers. I want to see somebody step up.”
