Browns waver on taking Warrick No. 1

Penn State stars have NFL buzzing

The Associated Press

CLEVELAND — Cleveland Browns vice president Dwight Clark watched in awe as Penn State's LaVar Arrington and Courtney Brown were weighed and measured at the NFL scouting combines.

He was just as impressed after interviewing the two All-Americans.

Suddenly, Florida State wide receiver Peter Warrick might not be the favorite to be Cleveland's choice with the No.1 pick in next month's draft.

“For a long time it was Peter, Peter, Peter,” Clark said Thursday. “Now, it's maybe we should look at these other two guys, they're pretty good. They are just unbelievable specimens. It's like somebody chiseled them out of granite.”

Arrington and Brown have become hot properties. Not just with the Browns, but all over the NFL as teams begin plotting their strategies for the April 15 draft.

There is speculation Bill Parcells, the New York Jets director of football operations, has an eye on Cleveland's No.1 pick as he considers trading wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson to Baltimore for the No.5 pick.
