Team in dark about Mack's wrist fracture

BY GEOFF HOBSON
The Cincinnati Enquirer

All the Bengals know about kick returner Tremain Mack's broken wrist is he fractured the navicular bone during Sunday's Pro Bowl.

The navicular is a delicate bone behind the thumb that can cause problems when broken, but Bengals trainer Paul Sparling said Monday the club won't know if Mack needs surgery until the club's doctors can examine him. Late Monday, the team was still trying to set up an appointment because Mack was en route from Hawaii.

FOLEY TROUBLE: Starting outside linebacker Steve Foley has been arrested for the third time in Louisiana's Ouachita Parish since April. He was charged with domestic violence when he allegedly kicked open a woman's apartment door Saturday and grabbed her by the neck because she did not want to let him take their son for pizza.

“He just got back in town to visit his kid, like he always does. He did not in any way touch her,” Foley's agent, Todd Newman, told the Associated Press. “When he showed up, she started bad-mouthing him in front of the kid and then slammed the door on him.”

Foley was released last Saturday on $750 bond. He was arrested in early April after failing to appear in court for a child-support hearing.

Foley was released on $2,000 bond, but was arrested again the next morning by Louisiana State Police, who charged him with driving while intoxicated and making an improper turn. The Bengals said they won't comment until they get more information on the most recent case.

O'DWYER SENTENCED: Guard Matt O'Dwyer was sentenced to three years of probation and alcohol treatment counseling after admitting his role in a July 10 fight at a Long Beach, N.Y. bar.

O'Dwyer, who pleaded guilty in October to disorderly conduct and third-degree assault, must also pay nearly $4,400 to the city of Long Beach and Nassau County. Also charged in the fight were former New York Jets teammates Jason Fabini and Jumbo Elliott.
