Another bad break for star-crossed Carter

CHARLOTTE Has it happened again?
Running back Ki-Jana Carter underwent a magnetic resonance imaging test (MRI) Sunday night for a dislocated right kneecap suffered after he attempted to play defense on Jeff Blake's interception midway through the first quarter of the Bengals' 27-3 loss to Carolina.
He may need season-ending surgery , this after he missed all but the opener last season with a shaterred wrist and his rookie season of 1995 with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.
But trainer Paul Sparling said depending on the MRI, it could be treated without surgery. Still, it appears he'll miss a significant amount of time again.
Sparling said Carter planted his foot, and heard the kneecap pop. Carter had a similar injury to his left kneecap in high school.
Other injuries
Right guard Brian DeMarco also underwent an MRI for a lower back injury and is questionable for the Rams game. As if the backs didn't have enough problems, rookie fullback Nick Williams re-aggravated the high ankle sprain that cost him all of training camp and he's also questionable.
With fullback Brian Milne already deactivated with a sprained knee, that left the Bengals for a time with fullback Clif Groce playing running back and tight end Steve Bush playing fullback.
