Bengals down to last DBs

PONTIAC, Mich. — Kelvin Moore's injury Friday night against the Detroit Lions in the Silverdome leaves the Bengals with 11 defensive backs in camp, including suspended safety Tremain Mack.

The Bengals plan to carry 10 defensive backs on their 53-man roster, and Mack won't count while he sits out the first four games. So all the defensive backs will make the team unless the Bengals bring in more players.

Moore, a strong safety, suffered a cervical spine injury in Friday's game and was taken to POH Medical Center. He may miss the rest of the season.

Cornerback Ric Mathias is out for the year with a knee injury.

ON THE SHELF: Nine players didn't make the trip Friday: Mathias, center Rod Payne (knees), running back Ki-Jana Carter (knee cyst), guard Ken Blackman (knee), linebacker Tom Tumulty (knee), defensive end John Copeland (hamstring), tight end Damian Vaughn (hand), wide receiver Craig Yeast (ankle) and fullback Nick Williams (ankle).
