Five questions with Ki-Jana Carter

Although he's missed half of his 64 NFL games because of injury, Ki-Jana Carter has always stayed upbeat and kept his good humor. The Bengals are counting on his catching out of the backfield this season, so The Enquirer's Geoff Hobson threw five questions at him after the season's first walk-through practice Friday.

Q: You had a cameo in the movie Jerry Maguire. Are you going to see your co-star (Tom Cruise) in his latest, Eyes Wide Shut?

A: It doesn't look real good. I don't like those kind of movies. Nothing against Tom, but it just looks cheesey. The whole setup. It looks like back in the 1800s. Remember the movie Dracula? The scene with the velvet. The colors aren't bright. Their like faint color. I don't like all that. You won't see me watching that.

Q: How many plays will you go this year?

A: Hopefully all of them. I just take one play at a time. You never know. Look at what happened last year (when he shattered his wrist in four pieces in the opener and missed the rest of the season). I just fell down like I always do. It was just the angle was wrong and I put a dent in the turf. What can you do about that? Just take it one at a time.

Q: Are you going to keep giving your mother the ball after you score a touchdown at home and what does she do with them?

A: Oh yeah, I'll keep doing it. It's like saying, "I finally made it. Here's what I did in this game.' Why do people collect baseball cards? They have meaning. I give her the ball, then I get them made up and she puts them in a little shrine she has downstairs. She doesn't let me have them. That's her stuff.”

Q: Main Street or Mount Adams if you're going out?

A: During the season, I don't go out much. I've never been to Mount Adams. I know where it is, but I don't. I'd get lost. Main Street really picked up the last year and a half and when I was gone (last season) I heard Main Street was happening. It depends. I also go to Northern Kentucky on the river.

Q: What kind of numbers do you want this year?

A: First of all, I want to go to the playoffs. Forget the dumb stuff. I can rush for two yards and if we go to the playoffs, that's fine with me. I want to be able to contribute, running catching, whatever I can do.
