Boomer not coming back to Bengals
The Boomer Esiason watch officially ended Thursday the way it started about a month ago:
Shrouded in mystery.
Neither Esiason or the Bengals have ever admitted they pursued each other. But the fact is, two days after Esiason visited Spinney Field, the Bengals decided to pay Jeff Blake his $500,000 roster bonus.
They never talked to me, said Jerrold Colton, Esiason's football agent.
On Tuesday, Esiason said the comeback was never discussed. But a CNN/SI report said he would have returned for more than the two-year, $8 million deal the Bengals offered last season before Esiason opted for the ABC Monday Night Football booth.
Boomer? Coslet asked Thursday. He's a TV announcer. Let's keep the subject on Blake.
