Round 7: TE Damian Vaughn

  • Pick: Ninth (222nd overall)
  • School: Miami University
  • Size: 6-foot-4, 247 pounds
  • Position: Tight end
  • History: The first-team All-MAC selection was the seventh Miami player to participate in the Blue-Gray Game and the first since Rob Carpenter in 1992. Started every game in 1996-97. 1997: Caught 27 passes, third on the team, for 340 yards and a touchdown. Excelled against UC with eight catches for 78 yards. Earned RedHawk Award for spirit, enthusiasm and special contributions to the team.
  • Projection: Will push No. 3 tight end Steve Bush for roster spot. "You need competition at the position," Bengals tight ends coach Bob Wylie said. "Steve just doesn't have the third spot."
