Ben-Gals tryouts begin Sunday

Annual spring tryouts for the Ben-Gals cheerleading squad begin this weekend. Even women from last year's squad must audition again this year.

Preliminary tryouts are noon-4 p.m. Sunday and April 20, at FitWorks and Sports Therapy, 1194 West Kemper Road, Forest Park. Tryouts are not open to the public.

Candidates must be at least 20, reside in Greater Cincinnati and have a regular job or be a full-time student. To register, call Ben-Gal coordinator Charlotte Jacobs at 621-3550.

Qualifiers from the tryout sessions will gather May 4 at the Kings Island Resort and Conference Center (formerly Kings Island Inn), Mason, for finals, to be judged by a panel of dance professionals and celebrity judges.

Finals begin at noon and, unlike tryouts, are open to the public. Twenty-four regulars and six alternates will be chosen. They'll appear at all home games.
