Braham interests Patriots

BY CHRIS HAFT
The Cincinnati Enquirer

The Bengals have begun contract talks with their restricted free agents, one of whom has attracted the interest of the AFC champion New England Patriots.

Rich Braham, 26, started all 16 games last season at center and left guard.

His versatility enhances his value, but restricted free agents rarely change teams. Their clubs regain rights to them on April 15 and can match any
offer before then.

Wide receiver Darnay Scott, fullback Jeff Cothran, defensive end Ramondo Stallings, defensive tackle Kimo von Oelhoffen and safety Bracey Walker are Cincinnati's other restricted free agents.

Free-agent quarterback Boomer Esiason and his agent, Gerald Colton, have talked with Bengals officials, but no deal is imminent. ''They're figuring out their (salary) structure; we're figuring out other options,'' Colton said.
